This interview was conducted in 2016.

Allens alumna Siobhan Lancaster moved from the M&A and corporate world into resources as a company secretary and legal counsel at various resources companies. Now she has founded Instatruck, an innovative system that matches businesses or consumers with pre-screened trucks for immediate delivery of goods, and was recently named a finalist in the 2016 WA Innovator of the Year awards.

Siobhan LancasterSince leaving the firm…

I've been involved mainly in the resources sector, as Company Secretary and legal counsel. More recently I've founded Instatruck which is a startup that matches trucks on demand with businesses and owner operator truck drivers looking for additional work.

A typical day at work for me is…

busy. It involves everything from talking to customers and drivers, to liaising with tech teams and marketing.

At Allens, I…

was involved in everything from running the paralegal team as head paralegal, working with the competition team as a research assistant, and working as a lawyer in corporate.

The thing that makes me get out of bed and go to work each morning is…

the sunshine.

I'm also passionate about…

making things more efficient and solving problems.

The best bit of advice given to me was…

that learning grammar is important if you want to hide spelling mistakes.

The best part of my role is…

getting to do a diverse range of things, meeting a diverse range of people and helping businesses solve what they describe as their 'transport headaches'

At Allens, I worked with/the people I remember most are…

Gaire Blunt for his extraordinary mind, Michael Rose for his interviewing skills, Tom Story as a young partner in M&A, Beth Patterson as my first boss and of course all the brilliant paralegals who have now gone on to do some incredible things.
