Allens has advised leading global satellite telecommunications service provider SpeedCast International Limited on its acquisition of the assets of NewSat from receivers McGrathNicol.
Under the deal, SpeedCast purchased NewSat's teleport and satellite services business. The transaction followed the appointment of receivers and managers to NewSat on 17 April 2015.
The Allens team on the matter was led by Partners Gavin Smith, Victoria Holthouse and Senior Associate Michael Scarf, with the transaction requiring simultaneous settlement actions in Sydney, Hong Kong and Brisbane.
Gavin said the deal was a significant one for SpeedCast.
'The addition of NewSat's teleport assets in Australia will complement the company's existing infrastructure in the region, provide expansion capabilities and enhance its ability to deliver high-quality satellite communications services to its energy, government and telecom customers in Asia-Pacific, Middle-East and Africa,' Gavin said.
'SpeedCast has grown rapidly over the past few years and this is the fifth acquisition Allens has worked on for SpeedCast. We are proud to have been able to assist SpeedCast again on the next stage of its growth.'
