Royal Dutch Shell Plc's A$98 billion takeover of BG Group Plc passed its final Australian regulatory hurdle and received approval from the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB).
The merger received unconditional ACCC clearance in November.
The deal was one of the largest takeovers in corporate history and is the largest global energy deal in over a decade since the merger of Shell's Dutch and British arms in 2004.
Allens' role advising Royal Dutch Shell on the FIRB application caps off a strong year for the firm's competition and corporate teams.
