Allens, in partnership with the State Solicitor's Office, has advised the Public Transport Authority (PTA) of Western Australia on the $1.176 billion Forrestfield-Airport Link Project.
The Forrestfield-Airport link is the largest expansion of Perth's rail system since the Mandurah rail line and will provide direct access to and beyond Perth Airport.
Lead Partner Nicholas Ng said the project builds on Allens' expertise in large-scale infrastructure projects that involve technical knowledge of the transport, real estate, and construction sectors.
'The Forrestfield-Airport Link project involved an inter-disciplinary team with seamless collaboration between the State Solicitor's Office and the PTA.
'The project required technical, commercial and procurement expertise and project management with multiple stakeholders.
'We also worked with Perth Airport to develop a framework that appropriately managed risk throughout the construction phase and 100-year-plus life of the project,' Nicholas said.
Salini Impregilio and NRW Pty Ltd will deliver the project under a design, construction and 10-year maintenance contract.
The project involves some eight kilometres of tunnels and three new rail stations. Trains are expected to operate on the new line by 2020.
