Allens grows with new partners

Allens is delighted to announce the appointment of its new partners: Penny Alexander, Kate Austin, Jessica Choong, Alexandra Mason, Ben O'Hoy, Simun Soljo and Joseph Power, who join Sarah Kuman, who was appointed partner to the Allens' Papua New Guinea practice at the end of 2017, and environment and planning partners Jillian Button and Felicity Rourke, who started with Allens in January 2018.

Commenting on the appointments, Richard Spurio, Managing Partner, said he was pleased to have such diverse talent with strong international experience growing the firm's partnership.

'As we look towards the future, it is exciting to have new partners with expertise across important growth sectors such as funds, energy and infrastructure. We've also recognised growing client demand for deep regulatory specialists and are delighted that we're elevating people with strong fintech, regtech and risk management expertise,' Richard said.

Penny Alexander is a Projects and Developments specialist with significant government, infrastructure , energy and major projects experience, particularly in the transport sector. Penny has lived and worked in Japan and has built strong relationships with the Japanese business and investment community.

Kate Austin's practice area is Disputes and Investigations with a strong interest in the use of technology in class actions, risk and compliance and investigations disputes.

Jessica Choong is an M&A lawyer with a focus on cross-border Asian inbound M&A, particularly in the funds sector. Jessica has had a very mobile career with experience in Allens' Perth, Melbourne and Singapore offices.

Sarah Kuman is a commercial lawyer who works across the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors in the firm's Port Moresby office in Papua New Guinea.

Alexandra Mason is a Disputes and Investigations practitioner working on high profile banking sector litigation and investigations and commercial litigation. Alexandra also has strong global experience through time spent with Linklaters.

Ben O'Hoy is part of the Banking and Finance practice with expertise on structured finance and projects and corporate finance work, including significant experience in the banking team at Linklaters in London.

Simun Soljo is a financial services regulatory practitioner working in Allens' Financial Services and Wealth team. Simun has a particular interest in emerging regulatory regimes and technologies.

Joseph Power is returning to Allens and joining the Tax team. Joseph's practice is focused on tax advisory work as part of M&A transactions and restructuring.
