Allens has advised Healthscope Limited, one of Australia's leading private healthcare operators, on the sale of its Asian pathology operations in Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam to funds managed by TPG Capital Asia for A$279 million.
Healthscope's Asian pathology operations consist of 39 pathology laboratories across Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam, operating under the Gribbles Pathology and Quest Laboratories brands. The divestment follows Healthscope's sale of its Australian pathology business in 2015 and Australian medical centres business in 2017 – both transactions on which Allens advised.
The Allens team was led by corporate partner Emin Altiparmak, who worked alongside corporate managing associate Michelle Bennett, a specialist in healthcare M&A, and real estate managing associate Annabelle Aland, a regular adviser to Healthscope on real estate matters.
Lead partner, Emin Altiparmak, said that 'it was great to work with the Healthscope team again on the successful execution of this multi-jurisdiction deal and we look forward to assisting the team move swiftly to completion'.
The Healthscope sale was announced to the market on 30 July and is expected to complete by the end of August.
