Allens has advised The GEO Group Australia on the implementation arrangements following the State exercising an option to extend the operating agreement for the Junee Correctional Centre in New South Wales.
In addition to extending its operating term, the deal will also see The GEO Group Australia expand its scope to provide services to upgraded and additional assets currently under procurement at the Centre, including new maximum security and administration buildings.
'It's been great to support The GEO Group Australia on this project,' said lead Partner David Donnelly.
'In this case, the Centre is also undergoing a 489-bed expansion which will bring its total capacity to 1279 beds during 2019.'
'We are seeing an increase in sole-source procurements, which provide a good opportunity to do more with less, as parties have the ability to tailor procurement models and contractual structures to ensure projects deliver value for money outcomes.'
The Junee extension adds to Allens' significant track record in delivering correctional projects and sole-source procurements across Australia and New Zealand, including recent sole-sourced procurements such as Port Phillip Prison Extension, Fulham Correctional Centre Expansion, Gold Coast Light Rail – Stage 2, and the Casey Hospital Expansion Project.
