Allens has topped the latest 2019 Debtwire, Dealogic, Inframation and IJ Global league tables for syndicated loans and project finance transactions.

For the first nine months of calendar year 2019, Allens topped Debtwire's Asia Pacific (ex-Japan) Lead Bank's Legal Counsel by volume and number of deals, as well as the Dealogic Regional Legal Advisor league table for volume of project finance deals in the Asia Pacific.

For the third quarter of 2019, the firm was ranked leading legal advisor on Inframation's project finance league table by value and deal count, in Australia and also in Australia and New Zealand. IJ Global also ranked Allens first for infrastructure finance and project finance in the Asia Pacific.

Banking & Finance Practice Group leader, Partner Alan Maxton, said these results build upon league tables from the first half of the year.

'Our banking and finance team is going from strength to strength, advising on some of the largest deals in Australia, by both deal value and deal count.

For the third quarter running this year, we've been named the top choice by Lead Banks' Legal Counsel for syndicated loans in the Asia region, which is a remarkable achievement,' said Alan.

A series of significant deals contributed to these results.

For example, Allens advised on the A$1.4 billion refinancing of Sydney Airport's syndicated bank debt facilities, the first syndicated and largest sustainability linked loan ever in the Australian market, in addition to several corporate refinancings for Cleanaway, Elantis Premium Funding, Bapcor and JB Hi-Fi, among others.

Allens also worked on significant projects across different sectors during this time.

'Our clients are financing high-profile projects across the infrastructure, power, oil and gas and natural resources sectors in Australia. For instance, we advised on Queensland's $5.4 billion Cross River Rail Project, the refinancing of the Port of Darwin and Taralga Wind Farm in southern New South Wales,' said Head of Project Finance, Partner Michael Ryan.

'By providing a team that is renowned for delivering innovative financing solutions to Australia's most complex projects, these results demonstrate that our clients are returning to our market leading team for advice,' he said.
