Allens has extended its market leadership in Vietnam with the appointment of Giles Cooper as a partner in the firm's Hanoi office.
Giles is recognised as a leading legal practitioner in Southeast Asia, with expertise in M&A, power and major projects, and a particular focus on renewable energy.
The appointment cements Allens' reputation in energy and infrastructure in Vietnam, where the firm is known for its work on nation-building energy and infrastructure projects such as the US$9 billion Nghi Son Refinery Project, the Block B Gas Project, and a number of BOT power projects.
It also responds to growing demand from clients amid Vietnam's emerging renewable energy boom, which continues to present significant investment opportunities.
'We see Giles's extensive experience - as well as his network of contacts in renewable energy policy and reform - as immensely valuable to our clients,' said Leighton O'Brien, Partner and Head of Allens' Projects Practice.
'We are delighted to have Giles on board as we continue to build on our longstanding reputation as a trusted adviser to both local and international clients in Vietnam.'
Allens Vietnam is a full service law firm which advises across the full suite of legal practice areas, including mergers and acquisitions, the development of large-scale energy, resources and infrastructure projects, and complex cross-border banking and capital markets transactions.
