Allens has advised Norwegian energy company Equinor on its collaboration with Oceanex Energy to explore offshore wind opportunities in New South Wales.
The transaction is one of the first of its kind in Australia, with the new industry growing at an increasing pace as a result of the recent introduction of a new legislative framework facilitating the development of offshore wind projects. Allens has been at the forefront of the emergence of Australia's renewable sector, and offshore wind is an important element in the country's energy transition.
'We are very pleased to have advised Equinor on this significant transaction with Oceanex. Equinor is a world class offshore wind developer and operator, and an exciting new entrant to the Australian offshore wind market,' said lead Partner Jacqui Rowell.
The transaction is expected to complete in Q4 2022, subject to regulatory approvals.
