Allens has advised the lenders to Squadron Energy on the construction financing of the Uungula Wind Farm project, located on Wiradjuri Country near Wellington, NSW.
Once completed, the wind farm is expected to have a capacity of 414MW, generate enough electricity to power more than 220,000 homes and prevent more than 560,000 tonnes of carbon emissions from being released into the atmosphere each year.
'We congratulate all parties on completing this transaction which is significant in terms of its scale, as well as being one of only a handful of greenfield wind farm projects to have achieved financial close in the Australian market in the last 12 months,' said lead Partner Tim Stewart.
Allens' involvement on this milestone transaction forms part of its ongoing role for the financiers on Australia's largest renewable portfolio financing, a transaction which saw Squadron Energy become Australia's largest renewable energy investor, operator and developer last year.
