Allens named Australian Law Firm of the Year

Key adviser: Richard Spurio

Allens has been named Australian Law Firm of the Year for 2017 by leading international legal directory Chambers.

The award caps off a year of working alongside our clients on some of the country's largest and most complex projects, disputes and transactions, according to Allens Managing Partner Richard Spurio.

'Many of the deals were acknowledged as Australia's largest or first and we are delighted to have been able to work with our clients on them,' he said.

'To be recognised by Chambers – given the significant client research they put into their directories – is something of which we are very proud. The award recognises the contribution of everyone across the firm to deliver innovative solutions to clients and client service of the highest quality.'

Allens' work over the past year includes: Asciano's $12.2 billion takeover; the NSW Government's partial lease of Ausgrid valued at $16.2 billion; nbn's $19.5 billion loan from the Federal government, the $1.176 billion Forrestfield-Airport link and AGL's unlisted $1 billion renewable energy fund – an Australian first.

Also successful was Linklaters, Allens' alliance partner, taking the China & Hong Kong International Firms – Finance award.
