About Dan Bolderston
Dan is a registered Trans-Tasman patent attorney and holds a Bachelor of Science (Physics) with Honours, and a Master of Intellectual Property Law. He has experience working on patent matters across a wide range of technical areas in the fields of physics and engineering, including medical devices, hygiene products, security devices, manufacturing, vehicles, agricultural equipment, renewable energy, hardware products and packaging.
Dan excels at patent drafting, local and foreign patent prosecution and opinion work. Dan has also performed work on the preparation of a patent opposition before the patent office and subsequent appeal in the field of needle safety devices. He particularly enjoys preparing validity and freedom to operate analyses and providing his clients with opinions that are of commercial value to their activities.
Dan has an extensive background in patent searching and analysis and prior to becoming a patent attorney Dan worked as a patent searcher and information specialist for nine years. As a patent searcher, Dan gained the ability to develop complex searches strategies in order to efficiently uncover material of relevance . This background gives Dan a unique insight into patent information, prior art and validity, as well as the ability to quickly understand and adapt to new information.
