About Mai Go
Mai specialises in funds management and financial services law. She has advised on various aspects of the funds management industry, including fund formation and financial services regulation. Mai regularly advises Australian retail and wholesale fund managers on marketing, launching and operating investment funds, and on licensing, disclosure and compliance requirements of both the Australian financial services licensing regime and the registered managed investment scheme regime.
Significant transactions that Mai has been involved in include advising:
- Mirvac – on the establishment of its $1.8 billion build-to-rent fund.
- LOGOS – on the establishment and ongoing operation of its Australian capital partnerships and ventures with institutional investors, including the establishment of funds to acquire interests in the Qantas site in Mascot.
- Elanor Investors Group – on its joint venture with ICON Developments for the acquisition and management of a development site in Broadmeadows, and its joint venture with PGIM Real Estate for the acquisition and management of a development site in Mulgrave.
- Octopus Investments – on the establishment of two open-ended renewable energy funds, OASIS and OREO, which co-invest into an Australian renewable energy portfolio across wind, solar and storage assets.
- ISPT – on various transactions, including its investment in the Fort Street Real Estate Capital Property Fund.
- Newmark – on the stapling and IPO of the Newmark Property REIT.
- Grosvenor – on the establishment of a joint venture arrangement with Gateway Capital for the acquisition and management of a portfolio of properties in Australia.
- one of Australia's largest superannuation trustees on a complex transaction involving the restructure of its registered schemes.
Prior to Allens, Mai worked at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission where she was a lawyer in the Investment Managers team. Her experience included assessing relief applications in relation to fund reconstructions, fundraising and mergers and acquisitions, assessing breach reports and undertaking proactive and reactive surveillance on responsible entities.
