About Craig Milner
Craig is a highly regarded tax law specialist with extensive experience advising on projects and transactions, principally for clients in the real estate and funds sectors. He advises on mergers and acquisitions, restructures, inbound and outbound investment and exit tax issues, fund creation and managed funds structures and property development structures.
Craig’s experience includes:
- Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield – advised the acquirer as lead tax counsel on Australian tax issues for the $32 billion business combination with ASX-listed Westfield Development Corporation, and ongoing advisor on Australian tax issues to the combined group.
- BP – advised on the Australian tax issues associated with the partial sale and leaseback of the Australian service station and convenience retail portfolio of properties to funds managed by Charter Hall.
- Mirvac – advised on tax issues for the successful consortium to deliver Sydney Metro’s integrated station development at Waterloo in collaboration with the NSW Government.
- Development Victoria – advising on tax, GST, duty and land tax considerations for potential build to rent project models.
- Newmark Capital – advised on the restructure and capital raising for the Newmark Hardware Trust, including issues specific to a key asset of the Fund in Queensland.
- Stockland – advised Stockland (with Evolve Housing) on the bid for the Ivanhoe Estate housing renewal project, including consortium structure and bid-critical GST and stamp duty issues.
- Investa Office Fund – advised the former ASX-listed IOF trusts in relation to the scheme of arrangement under which Oxford Properties acquired ownership; advised on tax issues for the sale of IOF’s 50% interest in the Coles group headquarters at Tooronga, Melbourne to Charter Hall.
